Organizations operate in different environments, and they are influenced by both external and internal environments. My organization is a Managed Care Organization and various environmental factors drive development in the industry. The main driving forces in my organizational industry include technology, regulations, and organizational culture (Beaulieu & Lehoux, 2018). For example, my organization is constantly forced to adapt to the most recent innovative technologies in the industry. Technological developments in my industry help to achieve accurate, timely, and meaningful information and this has forced my organization to invest in hardware, software, and professional manpower as well (Vogenberg & Santilli, 2018). This helps to capture and code all the relevant statistics with a high level of accuracy. Some of the internal factors that are common in my organization include resistance to change where at times organizational personnel sometimes resist changes and organizational restructuring. Additionally, regulations such as the introduction of new policies in the industry affect my organization since the organization is forced to adopt the new policies and regulations in the industry.
Steps to responding to changes include defining clearly defining the change and aligning the change to the organizational goals; determining impacts of changes and developing a communication strategy where all the affected stakeholders by the change are informed about the impending change (Stouten et al., 2018). Everyone involved in the implementation and use of the change is then trained about the change and a support structure to support the change and its impacts are implemented. After the change is implemented, the change is evaluated by measuring the change process, its efficacy, and its outcomes (Stouten et al., 2018) What environmental forces drive organization development in your field or industry?.
The most commonly experienced changes in my organization include the implementation of technologies in the industry. Such changes normally lead to the organization systems being restructured, employees being retrained for upskilling and sometimes some employees being rendered redundant.
